Our Story
GraniteIX was founded out of a clear observation: the Salt Lake City metro and broader Wasatch Front lacked diversity in the Internet Exchange space. As the region’s tech sector grew rapidly, local network operators had limited options for peering and traffic exchange — a gap that constrained competition, resiliency, and community-driven growth.
With years of network engineering experience and a deep passion for the industry, we set out to change that.
Our Name
The Wasatch Range and Salt Lake Valley are defined by granite — the same stone that built many of the region’s most enduring structures, from historic downtown buildings to the foundations of modern data centers. Like granite, GraniteIX is built to be solid, reliable, and lasting. We take that responsibility seriously.
Our Mission
GraniteIX strives to be a truly carrier-neutral entity with community at its heart. We believe a healthy internet ecosystem requires open, affordable, and accessible interconnection infrastructure — especially in regions historically underserved by exchange points.
We hold firm to these principles:
- Neutrality — no preferred upstream providers, no hidden commercial incentives
- Openness — we welcome networks of all sizes, from the smallest ISP to the largest CDN
- Community — our success is measured by the health of the networks and organizations we serve
Our Partners
We are pleased to partner with Senawave and cooperate with other local providers to deliver world-class interconnection services to the Wasatch Front.
